Let's Answer Some Questions BEFORE We Get Started....

Do I need a consultation before I start laser hair removal?

YES! CT state law requires all clients must first visit with any one of the mentioned professionals before starting laser hair.  Consultations are FREE and are offered at Viso Bello.

Should I shave before the treatment?
Shaving the day before or just prior to treatment is recommended and you may shave again twenty-four hours after treatment unless our medical team tells you otherwise.

Should I shave my face prior to laser hair removal? Women too?
Yes, you should.  You CANNOT pluck, wax or use a depilitory cream prior to your treatments as the base of the hair follicle must remain intact under the surface of the skin in order for the laser to "see" it. Discuss this with our team before your treatment.

Is it safe?
Laser hair removal is the most popular aesthetic procedure performed annually. Hair removal is one of the aesthetic medical industry's most well-known and researched uses of lasers having provided safe and effective permanent hair reduction for thousands of patients worldwide.

How many treatments will I need?
Typically, 6 to 12 treatments is adequate to provide permanent hair reduction. Again, Success with laser hair is dependant on the individual skin type. More or less than 6-12 sessions is not unusual in some cases. However, after a one-on-one consultation, our medical team may determine that based on the density of your hair, hair color and skin color, you may require additional treatment. Your provider will advise you. It's not unusual to require a touch-up treatment two years after completing laser hair removal treatments.

Will my hair ever grow back?
Actively growing hairs that are treated should not grow back. Once a hair follicle is damaged it cannot grow hair. However, hair follicles that were not in the active growth phase will need to be treated. It's also not unusual for patients to have a touch-up two years after initial treatment due to hormonal changes.

Why do I need 6 - 12 treatments?
Hair growth occurs in 4 stages: Early Anagen (early hair growth), Anagen (active hair growth) Catagen (regression) Telogen (resting, not growing) Laser hair removal only affects the Anagen stage, (actively growing hair). Therefore, approximately twenty-five-percent of hair is removed with each treatment. After 6 to 12 treatments, the area should be free from hair. Again, Success with laser hair is dependant on the individual skin type. More or less than 6-12 sessions is not unusual in some cases.

Do I need to arrange time off from work for treatments?
No. No down time and requires no recovery time. You can have a laser treatment and return to work, school or other normal activities immediately.

How do I know it really won't hurt?
Most people find laser hair removal treatment comfortable, especially when compared to other hair removal methods.  Pain is subjective, so saying it won't hurt you a bit cannot be determined. If you find it painful, simply talk to your provider.

Can I shave between treatments?
Yes, but after the treatment, your hair will shed and you may experience a few weeks with no hair growth between treatments.  The Laser will only destroy hair in the Active phase of growth.  As some hair returns, you can shave it, but avoid using tweezers, waxing or plucking as the root of the hair is needed for treatment.

Should I wax before laser Hair removal?

NO. Not for at least 4 weeks prior to your first session

Should I stay out of the sun?

YES!  All areas being treated for laser hair should have no exposure to the sun. Always wear strong SPF when required.
